Garnier Micellar Water | Review

First, let me do a happy dance!!!!! Why? Because, Garnier has finally launched their most raved about product in India! I’m talking about their Micellar cleansing water. In the past one year, every single ‘drugstore favourites’ blog post or youtube video I read or watched, this baby was on the number one of literally every blogger’s and youtuber’s list. So you can definitely imagine my excitement when I found this Micellar water in the aisle of my local Beauty Centre. There are 2 variants of this product available in India- Micellar Cleansing water & Micellar Oil-Infused Cleanser water. I’m reviewing both of them today as it would be easier for you guys to decide which one is more suitable for what needs. I did a full face of makeup to test both of these. Let’s see how they performed!

What is Micellar Water?

Micellar water gets its name by the tiny, round molecule known as Micelle which are suspended in a solution. These Micelles come together to gently pull away all the dirt, makeup and excess oil from our face while hydrating the skin. It is waaaayyy better than the normal tap water we use on our skin! The tiny oil droplets in this product can be really hydrating for people with dry skin as it properly cleanses the skin without disturbing its pH level.

How to use Micellar water?

Introducing a new type of skincare product into your skincare routine can be a confusing task. But this product is really easy to work with. You just have to swap this with your normal daily cleanser. If you have on really heavy makeup on your face (like wedding heavy), I would suggest using a normal makeup cleansing wipe before using this because it would take a lot of product and cotton pads to get rid of all that makeup. When I tried doing that, I just kept running out of cotton pads. It did get rid of every last drop of makeup on my face but it was just too much work. But, if you have on a light or even a medium coverage makeup, you don’t need anything else.

To use Micellar water, you simply pour it onto your cotton pad and rub it all over your face, just like a toner. Then you can carry on with your daily skin care routine. You don’t need to wash your face after using Micellar water.

Price:

Rs.175 for 125 ml

Rs.349 for 400 ml

Ingredients:

Aqua / water, hexylene glycol, glycerin, disodium cocoamphodiacetate, disodium edta, poloxamer 184, polyaminopropyl biguanide, fil b162919/3

My Experience:

This is the original Micellar water that I see everywhere on the internet. It is said to remove makeup +cleanses + soothes and is suitable even for sensitive skin. It has no perfume. The ingredient list of this one is pretty small as well.

The packaging is really cute. This Micellar water comes in a transparent bottle with a pink cap that opens as a flip top lid. The lid and the cap are quite secure. All the details regarding the product is given on the back of the bottle.

This one looks just like plain water; with some bubbles on the top. The colour is crystal clear without any opacity.

I removed the left side of my face makeup with this. I took a generous amount of the product on a cotton swab and wiped my eye makeup first. The eyes shadow came off in single swipe. Then I kept the cotton on my lashes for 5 seconds and wiped it again and my mascara started coming off. I use waterproof mascara so it’s pretty hard to get it off. Also, i’m obsessed with liquid matte lipstick and they’re pretty stubborn as well. I had to use at least 3 cotton pads and a lot of product to get off my makeup. All the makeup came off in 2 pads but the mascara was the hardest to work with. But, eventually, all of it came off and my skin was left squeaky clean!

Pros:

Gets rid of all the dirt and excess oil.

Suitable for sensitive skin

No perfume

Cons:

Getting rid of mascara is little harder with this one.

Price:

Rs.225 for 125 ml

Rs.399 for 400 ml

My Experience:

This Micellar water is oil-infused and is said to be suitable for all skin types. It removes Waterproof makeup + cleanses + nourishes. It’s also said to be non-greasy. It contains fragrance.

The packaging is really cute. This Micellar water comes in a transparent bottle with a yellow cap that opens as a flip top lid. The lid and the cap are quite secure. All the details regarding the product is given on the back of the bottle.

This oil-infused micellar water looks just like a glass of water would look if put some oil in it. The water has a slight opaque/muddy look to it. You can definitely see ¼ layer of oil on the top. You have to always shake the bottle well before using this.

I started removing other side of my makeup with this one. Again, I took a generous amount of this product on my cotton pad and started removing my makeup. The eye shadow and waterproof eye liner came off in one swipe and my mascara also started coming off really easily.again I kept the cotton pad on my lashes for about 5 seconds (always do this step while removing waterproof mascara). And my mascara actually came off without much trouble. Liquid lipstick also came off very easily. This one was much easier to work with waterproof makeup. I still had to use more than one cotton pad. But that is because, i remove my eye makeup, face makeup & lip makeup, all with individual cotton pads. This trick just keeps everything more clean and easy.

Pros:

Gets rid of all the dirt and excess oil.

Removes waterproof makeup effectively.

Suitable for all skin types.

Cons:

Has fragrance!
