Essential oils are quickly becoming my favorite products to work with. I just love playing with different flavors with different qualities! Every essential oil has it’s own individual qualities, benefits and uses. If you actually sit and research, the range of essential oils available in the market today is mind blowing! I have Lavender, Rose, Orange, lemon, Cinnamon, Camphor, Tea tree & Rosemary essential oils. Today I’m talking about the Tea tree essential oil uses & benefits. Also, some amazing and easy DIY recipes using tea tree oil!

Tea Tree essential oil Uses & Benefits

Some Facts of Tea Tree Essential Oil:
  • Essential oils are really potent and concentrated solutions because they’re extracted from natural fruits & plants.
  • Tea tree essential oil is extracted from Tea tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia, a native to Australia) through the process of steam distillation.
Benefits of Tea Tree Essential Oil:
  • Tea tree essential oil has an anti-bacterial compound called Terpinen-4 that destroys the bacteria, fungi and other microbes that infects the skin.
  • Terpinen-4 also helps in treating Head lice, dandruff & itchiness of the scalp.
  • It treats acne by killing the bacteria that causes breakouts. Tea tree essential oil is the most effective & beneficial essential oil in terms of fighting Acne.
  • Tea tree oil actually has properties that allows it to penetrate deep into the skin’s oil glands and banish any and all the bacteria present, hence disinfecting them and unclogging the pores.
Aroma:

Warm, spicy & really potent aroma.

Tea tree essential oil uses & Some DIY Recipes:
  • Hair mask:

Mix 2 tbsp Coconut oil, 1 tsp Castor oil and a few drops of Tea tree as well as Rosemary essential oil each.

  • Anti-acne face pack:

Mix 1 tbsp Gram flour (Besan), 1 tsp Aloe Vera gel, ½ tsp Turmeric powder & a few drops (3-6) of Tea tree oil. Mix everything together very well. Apply on cleansed face and let it sit for 30 minutes then wash off. You’ll see a difference from the very first use!

  • Anti-acne night cream:

Mix 3 tsp Shea butter, 1 tsp Organic Coconut oil, 10 drops of Tea tree oil and mix this mixture well. Apply before going to bed instead of your natural moisturiser. This’ll last for at least a week. Store this in a small container or tin.

  • Anti-acne Toner:

Dilute a few drops of Tea tree oil with some Witch hazel or Apple cider vinegar to make this anti-acne toner. Apply in cleansed skin with a cotton ball.

  • Anti-dandruff mask:

Mix 5 drops of Tea tree oil, 1 tbsp sweet almond oil & 1 tsp Honey and apply this mixture onto your scalp. Let it sit for 1-2 hours then wash off with a mild shampoo.

  • Sunburn balm:

Mix a few drops of Tree tea oil in a 1 tbsp of Aloe Vera gel. Apply this mixture to affected area for 1 hour or you can leave it on overnight as well to relieve the skin burn.

  • Cleaning spray:

Add 10 drops of Tea tree oil to 1 cup of water. Pour this mixture into a spray mouthed bottle. Mix well and use wherever required just the way you use your cleaning spray (like Colin spray).

  • Foot soak:

Take 1 cup of Sea salt, 1 cup Baking soda and 10 drops of Tea tree & Lavender essential oil each. Mix everything together thoroughly and store in a jar. Use ¼ of the amount in a single use.
